I was tempted to take my big camera to the Patti Smith concert in Harpa on August 17, but sanity prevailed and I’m sure I enjoyed the concert much more for not having brought it along. I would have liked to have already bought the LG phone then, because I did take a couple of photos on my old phone and I’m sure the G3 would have done a better job of it. However, I had fun at the concert and that’s all that really matters. Patti and her band performed Horses in its entirety – it’s the 40th anniversary of the album – with a number of other songs. The bad rocked, and Patti’s performance was electrifying.
The Reykjavík Gay Pride festival has changed its name and become simply Reykjavík Pride. This reflects the participation of other groups, such as bisexuals, transsexuals and intersex people. The Pride parade, which is the climax of 5 days of celebration and awareness-raising, took place yesterday. There were fewer big floats with people in grand, glittery, shimmery showgirl/drag queen costumes than I have sometimes seen, but there was still a lot of colour (most images can been enlarged by clicking on them):
