Kirkjufell (“Church Fell”)

In English, “fell” can refer to a highland area, a hill or a mountain. In Icelandic, the word is generally used to refer to an isolated (generally small) mountain or high hill, i.e. one that stands by itself and not as part of a range. Kirkjufell in Grundarfjörður is considered one of the most beautiful of such mountains in Iceland. My brother climbed this mountain about a week ago and found it strenuous but rewarding. This is the view from near the waterfall I posted photos of yesterday, taken at sunset:
