Þjóðveldisbærinn (The Viking era house replica)

DSC_8852 This house is based on observations made during the excavation of Stöng in Þjórsárdalur. It is how archaeologists imagine the original building must have looked like. I couldn’t go inside because it was still closed for the winter. It will open on 1 June and stay open until 31 August. Here is a post from my old photoblog that includes photos of the interior and a scale model of the house from the Saga Museum in Hella.
