Christmas decorations 1

Yesterday I took a stroll down the Laugavegur, Reykjavík’s main shopping street. Not all the shops have been given their Christmas makeovers yet, and those that have are not as elaborate and quite a bit more tasteful than some I remember from previous years. There are lots of plain garlands – at the most decorated with tiny white lights – a number of small Christmas trees and a few large ones, mostly decorated with lights, and lots of fairy lights, mostly white. There are also baubles and stars in some windows. There is not much glitter as of yet and I only saw blinking lights in one shop window, but it’s early days yet. Here is the first of a series of photos I took in the noonday gloom of that rainy Monday (I really need to go back and photograph it after dark because this doesn’t do the lights justice):
